9 February-17 March 2012. Galleria Colombo displays the neo pop works by the award winning, Toronto-based illustrator Gary Taxali.
On display is a series of works, which made the artist known and appreciated as one of the best exponent of the American low brow. In his works, Taxali combines the use of recycled and waste materials, such as stamped postal envelopes and fragments of old wallpapers, to various techniques and languages.
Taxali is inspired by American cartoons from the beginning of 20th century. In 2005, he launched his first vinyl toy, and subsequently he created his own toy company, Chump Toys, which led to the release of his On No and Oh Oh vinyl figures. Aside from his gallery shows and illustrations, Gary also teaches and holds lectures at various arts organizations and schools around the United States as well as in Europe.
