Giovanni Bellini: Dall’ Icona alla storia

18 Nov-25 Feb. Museo Poldi Pezzoli pays homage to the Italian painter Giovanni Bellini (1433-1516), better known as Giambellino, and the artistic glories of the 15th century in Italy.

The exhibition starts with the masterpiece Imago Pietatis, created by Bellini on the model of the Byzantine icon, and illustrates the gradual passage of the Italian artist to a Renaissance-humanist style, as testified by his Pietà.

The exhibition terminates with some paintings by the precursors and followers of the Venetian master, which demonstrate the great impact of Bellini’s art on Venetian contemporary art as well as on the taste and collecting of the different ages.

Mon-Sun 10.00-18.00, Tue closed.
