10-25 May 2012. This exhibition, entitled Trame d’Acciaio (Steel Plots), displays 30 large scale works by the Tuscan, Milan-based artist Giulio Ciampi. This eclectic artist is inspired by Mediterranean nature, its strong colours and primordial materials. Ciampi has lately decided to transform a painful experience from his private life in this new series of works, dedicated to the exploration of cold, sparkling metals.
Among his creations is Ballerina, a dancing female figure on a transparent sheet of perspex, born from a clever arrangement of silver dishes and trays, which belonged to his family. Ciampi focuses on the strengths and weaknesses of metal, its fascination as well as the difficulties and limitations of its application. Each work embodies an ancient track, emblem of an archaic, solemn and never forgotten world.
