5-13 Dec 2009. This annual fair displays handicrafts by over 3,000 producers from all around the world. Visitors can discover ancient traditions such as the tribal dances of the Apache Indians, take part in the manufacture of Scotch whisky as well as of household objects handmade by members of the Maasai tribe from Kenya and observe Italian master goldsmiths and carpenters at work. Some pavilions are also dedicated to ecology and sustainable living, with equipment with a low environmental impact, garden furniture and biological food products.
Novelties this year include a Mercato delle Gaite, reproducing a mediaeval Italian market, and a space for eco-navigation with handicraft and nautical companies.
The programme also includes a long list of side events such as Scottish bagpipes, dances by Apache tribes from North America and exhibitions by Peruvian artists.
