22 Apr-21 June 2009. Palazzo Reale celebrates the first 500 years of Italian decorative art and design.

This exhibition retraces the history of design from the first classical pieces of furniture created during the humanist period between 1400 and 1500 to the industrial production and design of the 1950s onwards, which both provide the basis of the present artisan culture of Made in Italy.

On display are pieces of furniture created by classical painters, sculptors and architects such as Bernini, Pelagi, Parodi, Juvarra, juxtaposed against those of more contemporary masters such as Ponti, Sarfatti, Pesce, Colombo, Sottsass.
