28 Feb-30 Apr 2008. The Museum Foundation Luciana Matalon presents this exhibition, curated by Floriano De Santi. Dedicated to the world of animals in fairy-tales, between myth and reality, it displays a vast selection of paintings and sculptures of animals by modern and contemporary artists (from 1920 to today).
These visionary artists reflect the subtle relationship among man, imaginary, myth and reality. These themes lead also to literature, recalling the mythological stories and the fairy-tales from European culture and literature. This exhibition focuses on the images and fantasies of a modern bestiary of the 20th century but with an eye to the past.
Works included in the show are by Karel Appel, founder of the movement
