13 Dec 2008-8 Feb 2009. This exhibition is dedicated to the Austrian photographer Lisette Model (1901-1983), who portrayed France and the United States in the 1950s with a very personal and ironic style. She portrays people in the intimacy of ordinary life: from the free beaches of Coney Island to the jazz clubs, from the idle richness of the Fifth Avenue to the simplicity of local meeting places. Her merit was to break the schemes and conventions of photography at the time time. Her passion and dedication was transmitted to other, younger photographers of the New School of New York, where she taught from 1951 to 1983.
