12-23 September 2012. The 17th edition of the famous Milan Film Festival focuses on the new an innovative quality of productions as well as independent cinema.
Showing are at the Strehler Theatre as well as at the Sempione Park, the Civic Aquarium, Anteo Cinema and Spazio Oberdan, which will host a rich programme of 254 movie projections as well as musical events and encounters with international guests and directors.
This year’s edition has a new double artistic direction, run by Alessandro Beretta and Vincenzo Rossini, two young Italian directors.
The competition for feature films is open only to the first and second works by international directors; the traditional competition for short movies; a collective thematic retrospective with various guests; a monographic review dedicated to one great author; workshops; film premieres; a review, entitled Vernixage, dedicated to the relationship between cinema and video art; an out of competition review, entitled The Outsiders, which will project the last movies of some masters of the history of cinema.
There will also be a small festival for children’s films, better known as the Milan Film Festivalino, as well as a series of concerts held on the courtyard of the Strehler’s Theatre.
