Celebrating the summer break.
Three very different concerts to choose from in Milan on Ferragosto evening, 15 August, as the city slows down for the most important holiday of the summer.
At the Sforza Castello dance hall, the sound of Romagna region’s famous ballo liscio (old-time polkas) will mix with punk and alternative sounds to create “Extraliscio”, a post-modern approach to the traditional Italian dance-hall music. The Secondo Casadei 10-piece orchestra will be playing from 21.30, with entrance free.
A very different scene at the Teatro Dal Verme in Via San Giovanno al Muro, where Il Giardino Armonico will present the entire cycle of Johann Sebastian Bash’s Brandenburg Concertos under the baton of Giovanni Antonini from 18.30. Entrance here is also free as long as places are available: tickets should be booked by telephone on 02 7631 7176.
The traditional Ferragosto concert of Milan Symphony Orchestra this year offers “A night in Buenos Aires” as the orchestra joins Argentina’s famous cellist and composer Jorge A. Bosso for an evening of classical tango music. The concert starts at 20.30 in the Auditorium in Viale Mahler. Tickets at €15 to €25 are available online at the LaVerdi website.
