Milan, Lombardy museums open free on Sunday

Free opening of Milan’s state and city museums for La Befana on 6 January

Italy's state-run museums and archaeological sites are open free of charge on Sunday 6 January as part of the Italian culture ministry's Domenica al Museo programme.

Milan's municipal-run museums will also be open free on 6 January, as well as those in several other towns and cities across the region.

The January edition of the popular initiative coincides with the annual celebration of Epiphany, the holiday better known to youngsters as La Befana.

The culture ministry website carries a list of all the museums and galleries adhering to the initiative, along with their opening hours.
