Milan’s 12th Photofestival opens

Two months of fine-art photography.

From 20 April to 20 June, Milano Photofestival will offer the best contributions to the world of fine-art photography in exhibition spaces across the metropolitan area.

Reflecting Milan’s increased significance as a touristic and cultural centre, this year’s edition is sub-titled “Reality and Future – From Milan to the World”.

The concept behind the project is to involve all the best cultural operators – gallery galleries, critics, photographers, collectors, enthusiasts – by offering an opportunity to organise exhibitions and initiatives which can add up to a single festival.

In the nine years since its inception, Photofestival has seen the involvement of 162 private galleries, 34 institutional spaces, 10 museums and 75 exhibition spaces (libraries, bookshops, schools, showrooms, association headquarters), hosting to 890 exhibitions by 620 authors, around a hundred of them international.

This year’s events will centre around exhibitions in some of Milan’s most treasured locations: Palazzo Giureconsulti, Palazzo Turati, Palazzo Bovara and Palazzo Castiglioni.

The catalogue, with a print-run of 30,000 copies, is produced in Italian and English and distributed free of charge in all the exhibition spaces and in other sites around the city. It is also available in preview on the festival website. With a full page is dedicated to every event, it also serves as a programme.
