The fourth edition of “so critical so fashion” opens on Friday 20 September with over 50 independent stylists, artisans and producers concentrating on research for sustainable materials and innovative techniques, but also respect for historical tradition.
Hosted in a former ice-house and fridge factory, one of Milan’s many examples of urban renewal, the show aims to provide concrete proof that a different concept of fashion is possible, an event far from the precepts of Milan Fashion Week, to change points of view and exhibit clothes and accessories telling the story of their designers.
Novelties this year will include handbags in cork and recycled paper by Silvia Massacesi, bangles, ear-rings and necklaces by Mieko with scenes from popular comic strips, and jewellery by Artedì made from zip fasteners, CDs and electronic components.
Visitors can take part in workshops to personalise or create clothes and accessories, or in a photo-shoot wearing some of the models on display and after a personalised make-up session using natural, biological cosmetics.
Other events include a workshop to learn how to colour T-shirts with food, a kids’ workshop on creating inks and paints from vegetables, and lessons on using Instagram in fashion.
Events will be accompanied by DJ sets and cocktails.
Free entry to the event is from 15.00 to 22.00 on Friday, 10.00 to 22.00 on Saturday and 10.00 to 20.00 on Sunday. Reach the Frigoriferi Milanesi on the passante ferroviario to Porta Vittoria stop, or on bus lines 27, 73, 90, 91, 93 or 45.
