Milan’s botanical gardens open to the public

First of this year’s series of Saturday events.

The city's botanical gardens will be open free to the public on the afternoon of Saturday 8 April with a programme for adults and children.

Starting at 14.00 and continuing until 17.30, students from scientific high-schools will conduct guided tours around the almost 25,000 sqm gardens, created in 2012 to promote education and appreciation of the Po plain’s natural assets.

At 15.00, the sowing of the maize will mark the start of a nursery in the cereals labyrinth, while the didactics section will begin a workshop on creating with nature.

From 17.00 children will be welcome at an educational games session in the adjoining Botanical Museum, while throughout the afternoon experts in the homeopathic gardens will be on hand to explain the experiments being carried out in natural health care.

City hall plans to open the gardens at least once a month on Saturday afternoons to display what is being created and studied, combining scientific explanation for adults and educational games to arouse the interest of the younger visitors.

The gardens are located on Via Rodolfo Margana, close to the Niguarda Hospital main entrance.
