Milan’s castle hosts major graphics exhibition

23 Mar – 1 July. Masters of the 20th century.

An exhibition in Milan’s Sforza Castle is displaying over 300 drawings, etchings and art books by the most celebrated artists of the last century.

The work of over 100 artists has been loaned by several leading collections, including the Intesa Sanpaolo institute, under the heading Novecento di Carta (the 20th century on paper).

Normally not on display to protect them from deterioration, the selection is an extraordinary chance to see works of quality and variety by recognised masters such as Amedeo Modigliani,  Umberto Boccioni, Giorgio De Chirico, Lucio Fontana, Marino Marini, Afro, Alberto Burri, Federica Galli and more.

The styles represented range from symbolism and surrealism to futurism, works of the Nucleari and Spazialisti, pop art, conceptualism and arte povera.

The exhibit is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 09.00 to 17.30.  Entry costs €10 (concessions €8), and the ticket includes access to the castle museums.
