4-24 Sept 2009. The third edition of MiTo Settembre Musica, one of the most renowned musical events in Italy, opens with a rich programme of over 217 concerts in Milan and Turin held by great musicians as well as lesser known artists and undiscovered talents.
In Milan there will be 103 concerts in 70 locations from the temples of music in downtown Milan, such as the conservatoire, churches and famous theatres, to spaces in outlying areas which are apparently unsuitable for hosting cultural events.
The inaugural concert by conductor Yuri Temirkanov and the St Petersburg Philharmonic is held at La Scala and pays homage to Prokofiev. Other events to look out for include a special tribute to Japan and its composer Toshio Hosokawa, with concerts, the exhibition That
