Third edition of open-air concert
Piazza del Duomo in Milan is preparing to host a hundred thousand music lovers on Sunday 2 June for the third edition of Radio Italia Live, a free gig organised by the popular radio station in collaboration with Milan’s city hall, starting at 20.00.
Among the singers who have pledged their presence will be Biagio Antonacci, Elisa, Alex Britti, Edoardo Bennato, Emma, Giorgia, Negramaro, Claudio Baglioni and Laura Pausini, who have promised to perform at least three numbers each, accompanied by the Sanremo Festival Orchestra. All the performers will be introduced live by the comic duo Luca and Paolo.
In a new departure for this concert, a special section has been added for hip-hop to celebrate the category’s increasing success in Italy. In the fomat of an introduction to the main concert, and starting at 19.00, Hip-hop Radio Italia will feature J-Ax, Club Dogo, Fedez, Emis Killa and Mondo Marcio.
For those who can’t find room in the square, mega-screens will carry the concert live in Piazza S. Babila, Piazza Cordusio and Via Dante. A special area reserved for wheelchair users will be available on the cathedral steps, with the access ramp on the Piazzetta Reale side.
Metro lines 1 and 3 will run extra trains every 30 minutes, with the last departure from Piazza Duomo station at around 01.00. Car parks will be open until 02.45 at metro stations Lampugnano, Bisceglie, Molino Dorino, Famagosta, Cascina Gobba, San Donato Emilia/Paullese and Maciachini.
Last year’s event attracted an audience of over 100,000, which the city administrators hope to overtake this year.
