27 March-25 July 2010. This exhibition pays homage to the master Flemish painter and businessman Pieter Paul Rubens (1577-1640). Rubens privileged subjects such as religion and mythology and his paintings were often accomplished through teamwork: Van Dyck was asked to draw faces, Bruegel to paint flowers and fruit and Wildens to embellish the landscapes. Being a careful observer, he tried out all genres and his portraits involved subjects in epic scenes and martyrdom. Rubens signed himself Pietro Paolo, pretending to come from Italy.
