Street artists invade Milan

Open Street Performing Arts International

Fifty of Europe’s most talented street performers will invade Milan this week for a four-day frenzy of shows in the squares around the city.

Chosen from among some 230 companies, the artists will put on a grand urban spectacle, with creative workshops, conferences and events to show off the best of professional street entertainment from Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 October.

Sempione Park and the Sforza Castle will provide the backdrop for 20 guest companies from nine different countries, selected by a jury of directors of major European festivals. And another 30 companies from 14 different nations including Japan will provide performances in direct and interactive contact with the audience.

Over 100 performances expressing the culture and artistic experimentation of street art will be backed up by an exhibition and workshops for professionals held in the former Cobianchi hotel in Piazza del Duomo, now a tourist information service.

Alongside the performances, stands around the city will offer the best of Italian street food and craft beers. A complete programme of all the events of the four-day festival is available on the Open Street website.
