Vegans hold festival near Milan

27-29 August: 3 days of debates, lessons and food.

As the debate over vegan diet intensifies in Italy – with one party even proposing a law against imposing it on children – supporters plan another three-day “antispecista” event in Vimercate, on Milan’s doorstep, to celebrate and explain the animal-friendly lifestyle.

This is the 11th edition of the festival, previously known as Vegan anch’io, where the hesitant or curious are invited to discover just how delicious animal-free food can be, and learn how to choose and prepare it.

Fresh menus every day, local wines and craft beer, clowns and games for kids, yoga, theatre, live music and DJ sets, and an area where visitors can bring their dogs to play and socialise will alternate with debates, workshops, show cooking and info stands to promote the choice of living and eating with full respect for other species living on the planet.

The event website includes the full programme, as well as directions for arriving by car or public transport.
