Guided tour on Sunday 19 April.
For Milan’s theatre and opera buffs, Sunday 19 April offers a special opportunity to visit the museum of world-famous La Scala opera house.
A guided tour lasting an hour and a half will take visitors through the historical collection of musical instruments, stage props, costumes, portraits, portraits and musical scores testifying to over a century of excellence in music.
The museum was inaugurated on 8 March 1913 with a ceremony in the former Casino Ricordi connected to the Teatro alla Scala. Over the years numerous donations and purchases have been added to the original collection.
The museum also includes the library, founded with 40,000 volumes donated in 1952 by Renato Simoni, author and critic of Milan’s Corriere della Sera, which is continuously enriched and updated.
The tour will include a view into the main auditorium of La Scala, as long as no rehearsals are taking place.
